He definitely uses alot of lead ballast now, and all of it is mounted on the traction bar in front of the front wheels.

What RPM are you guys launching your cars at? Last time i had some 205/50-14 and had my tire pis at 15 and i couldnt launch my car. Launch at 7k rpm and car rpm fell to 5K rpm and then pick up again. I guess that happen cause my tire pis was way too low. So where do you guys have your tire pis at and what RPM you guys launching at?

I got a SR20VE, 9lbs flywheel, bolts on with 205/50-14 BFG drag slicks.
Thanks, Yee.

There is no answer to all these what psi is best, what rpm is best. It all depends on the car, track, tires... everything, everytime I've made a change to my car I need to launch at a diff rpm. Also diff days a the same track will ned diff rpms.

You go out to the track, start with x psi and slowly keep going lower and lower, same with the rpm, just start low and keep on raising it. The lower pressures and highest you can get a way with at your track will probably give you the best results. You just need to play with it.

The real key is to try and keep everything as consistant as possible, other then the one change you make at a time. This way you can actually keep track of what changes actually help or hurt your 60fts

My car I like to have usually 9psi in the slicks and leave at 6.5k

Im going to bump this thread up as there is good info in here.

Just wanted to add some things to it.

My last time out I pulled a 1.61 60ft still bogging a bit on my 25X8.7X13 m&h slicks at 8psi. Still feel there was way more to be improved on as I bogged due to coming off the line at 1/2 throttle on the two step instead of full throttle. Also could have lowered the tire pressure to 6-6.5psi or so and also would have helped.

I have yet to align my car and i know the alignment is slightly off as well because it does pull to one side while driving on regular tires.

Another thing that ive noticed alot of the big honda guys saying that helps tremendously is corner balancing your car. basicly using your adjustable coilovers to distribute the weight evenly over the front tires and having the back although not as important as the front even as well if you can. Corner balancing is performed with you in the vehicle how it will be on the track. say your R/F weight is lower than your L/F weight, you would raise the vehicle on the L/R coilover and that will transfer more weight from the left side of the car to the right. This gets a nice even distribution and contact patch pressure on the ground.

I plan to do this to my car as well as a proper alignment. I already have the better suspension now so that should also help as well as the slick pressure, launch rpm and boost. Should definitely see in the low to mid 1.5's once out.

Traction bars for our cars are not really that necessary. Traction bars on hondas are common due to their front suspension design. They dont have as broad of a lower control arm as we do and they tend to get a lot of flex during hard launches that can screw with alignment. Our control arms are not as prone to movement and flex like that. Having good bushing in the control arms will pretty much take care of any flex issues. Traction bars may help very very little but more than likely negligable and money better spent elsewhere.

I thought traction bars (FWD cars) were to prevent weight transfer to the rear. They should help just as well on any FWD car.

Talking about the front traction bars that go from the control arm to the subframe. Not the rear traction bars. lol

The front ones prevent the control arms from flexing forward during launches which will in turn screw with alignment. Again not as necessary on our cars compared the the civics and so on. If you look at their front suspension, mainly lower control arm, you will see why I say this.

His car has to weigh that much to participate in the class he runs.
