Thread: Cage or no cage ...

I was wondering if you guys out there with cars capable of breaking the 11s , have a a cage or not?? Mine should be capable of running that when setup , I am trying to decide if I should just do it and get it out of the way ....

Cage. You will be shooting for a 10.9 if you keep building the way you are lol.

I have to get one if mine gets much faster and it's going to lol. It's ran 7.7 already and once it hits 7.49 I have to get one. That's 1/8th mile of course.

is the car going to be at the track alot, or is it going to be more of a street monster?
If your going to be there alot, its definitly worth having is caged. Not only for saftey reasons but your local track may kick you out if your running below at 11.49 without anysort of roll bar. If its more of a street car full cages are very annoying to drive with and are very dangerous if not wearing a helmet.

Ask yourself how often you plan on going to the track. I won't be running a cage in my car.

Ask yourself if your car can run a 10.9 and you open it up on the street would you rather hit a tree with a cage or without one...Regardless I would put some sort of reinforcement just for safety if you car is that fast so it doesn't crumple into nothing.

There are guys down here running 10's at the track with no role cage. I think NHRA calls for one if you go faster than 11.49. I'm border line at this time but after I get my new tires I expect to be in low 11's. If they don't ask for it I am not installing one. My car is more a street car than a race car.
