Thread: How are you triggering your 2-step?

I'd like to hear from the guys who have a 2 step installed. Where are you putting your switch?

i removed the blank switch filler next to the fog light switch/rear defrost/hazard switches. i drilled a hole in the blank one, went to radio shack and got a momentary push button switch and installed it.

when i am at the strip getting ready for my launch, i can reach out my index finger and hold in the switch with my hand still on the shifter in first gear. stock shifter FTW!

The best way to trigger you 2 step is via the clutch starter switch.

Disconect it and make a switch and hide it and use it to start your car. Also helps as a theft deterant.

Use the clutch starter switch as it will trigger when you press down and let the car rev out when you let up off the clutch to start racing.

Does the clutch switch have enough throw to allow for pre-loading the drive train? I think I may have to give that a try.

I had tried using the stock ebrake switch location. I replaced the oem switch with a normally closed switch. When the ebrake is depressed the switch is open, when it's up the switch is up it's closed. I had the switch on the ground side of a 12V relay but couldn't get it working consistently, I think it may be the cheap switch.

The clutch switch is the way to go as it takes no though when you are racing.


Starting the car is a 1- 2 thing so you can even make a start switch so when the key is on to start you just press it

I have mine via a relay of course on my left horn button. But being as i have the AEM ems now i'm gonna use Miko's clutch switch method for the 2-step and then use the left horn button to activate the anti-lag. I like having it on the left horn button cause my right hand is free to do whatever.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm going to try the clutch switch and will let everyone know how it works out. I was hesitant since I'm definitely not sitting at the tree with the clutch fully depressed, I slip it pretty good to preload, but I'm thinking I can adjust the clutch cable to get me where I need to be.

on my MSD box i used the clutch switch in series with the horn button to ground a relay to send voltage to the MSD box

Both 2-step rev limit and 2-step rev limit with anti-lag can be done with no switches at all in AEM EMS. That's the way I've seen it done anyway. They are active below a designated speed (4 MPH is popular). Am I missing something?

Calum's 2-step program works great its works with the speed sensor too....
