Thread: a32(95-99) maxima vs 12:1 nx2k???

I am planning to go to the track with a few maxima guys who have 3.5's in there 95-99 maxima's. I would like to know if my 12:1 nx2k with bc3 cams and a awesome tune will be able to beat them. There are running in the mid to high 13's whereas I hope to run atleast a high 13's probably better. So what do you all think?

Slicks/street tires? Good driver/Bad driver? Good track/Bad track?


Once again too many variables for people to just be guessing. With that being said, your car on slicks should get into the 13's on a decent track.

my car will be on drag radials and the max on street tires with a bad driver and me being a good driver. I say i smoke him, but that has to be proven first before i can go saying stuff.

Yeah I'd think your car would win either way. I've never come across a max with a 3.5 though. Be sure to post or at least let me know what you run. Hell what did you dyno at?


Also do you drive on the drag radials often?

I also have a sr16 tranny(but its coming out because of 5th gear pop out or should i leave it for the race?), 8.8lb light weight flywheel, a 4 piece ur pulley set, 6puck clutch and HD PP, so I just about got the hang of driving this thing and shifting around 8200rpm because those bc's won't stop making power damit!

I actuality he should beat me , but one I know i am a better driver,2he has NO LSD, 3 he just got the swap, so he is new to the motor and set-up, which is capable of mid 13's with a decent driver and maybe a 13.4 with a great driver.

Don't worry there will be, but it might have to be somehwere else.

As for the tranny, I'd leave it in, you don't use 5th gear at the drag strip. As for the rest of your mods, they are similar to what's on my car and I got my car down to 8.8 NA in the 1/8th mile, which SHOULD have been in the 13's, before I even got the cams. My car is probably lighter though.

Is his setup reallly capable of running mid 13's on street tires? I know the 3.5's are strong but it seems like it'd be all wheel spin lol.

I think it'll be a close race. i have a 02' max with a 3.5 and that shyt pulls hard but it spins alot. Good luck man. post a video when u race.

Is his setup reallly capable of running mid 13's on street tires? im pretty sure it is. 02' max's which are 200lbs heavier run 14.5-14.7 auto. The 6speed ones are in the low 14's (14.1-14.3). And thats stock no mods at all.

The 3.5 will be in a 95 maxima, so it might be lighter then a 02, but he has to use his 3.0 timimng equipment, whih celiminates the 3.5's varible vavle taiming. His wheel hp will probably be around 210 and mine in my 2400 pound car will be between 180-190whp, so i think I will own him especally up top because of the bc stage 3 cams that just LOVE to be revved!
