Agreed. Our following is too sparse to expect anyone to travel across the country by air or 4 wheels. Let's face it, we worship econoboxes, not Porches for a reason...our budgets are low :-) It's a given the east has their gatherings and the west, theirs.

I would be hosting solo most likely. There are a few others, but they are not truly active. If it were here maybe 10 more from Texas would show up. I doubt AZ boys or anywhere else would make the short drive.

I just think Texas makes more sense than a lot of other Western places.

So is Texas on the radar for consideration or not?

It was sounding like Roebling Road is the number 1 contender for April or May 2013 from what I gathered but someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I want to keep it on the list, but like many other options it really isn't a serious contender.

Secondary intent of this exercise is also to start making a list for future selection process. Maybe down the road it would make more sense.

So what are the 'serious' options for 2013?

It seems to be Roebling Road and what else at this point?

I'm hearing Nelsen Ledges again only if nothing else can work for a 2nd year in a row but certainly a possibility in the future several years down the road much like Roebling Road is being reconsidered now, right?

Do I hear a 2nd for Gateway if pricing can work? Seems to be a popular option for many anyway.

IMO there isn't anything serious yet. We are just trying to get a list of reasonable options.

Roebling Road
Nelson Ledges
Gateway
ECR
etc are all options.

Not sure if south is too far, but Barber Motorsports Park (Birmingham, AL) has a drag strip closeby called Lassiter Mountain Dragway - They are within 40 minutes of each other. The website I found says 1/4 mi, but someone will have to double check to confirm.

Barber Contact Name: Kyle Houser 205-967-4745 ext. 156
Barber Motorsports Park - Birmingham, AL

Lassiter Contact Number: 205-841-8696
Lassiter Mountain Dragway

Google Direction from Dragway to Road Course:

^ Barber was pretty well known to be very pricey to rent. Along with the crazy fees they have for even just grass if you go off track. Has this changed?

I'll throw this out there since when they opened they advertised a lot to locals here:

NOLA Motorsports Park - New Orleans, Louisiana race track, go karts, performance driving schools

I can check pricing, etc. Tons to do... might be some fun. I could get locals here to go also just to fill up the track day to lower cost if needed.
