I'm just going to throw this out there...

I feel a KY/TN/MO/AR area convention would be WONDERFUL. It's a lot more "Central US". There's a lot of different things to do depending on the state you choose.

Some track possibilities, aside from Nelson and Roebling, off the top of my head...

New Hampshire (Running NHIS w/ COSCOM is probably our cheapest option with a HPDE
club in the NE...$195. http://www.comscc.org/events/track-information/nhms/
Summit Point's Jefferson Circuit
Barber (Alabama) I wasn't at this convention. what was the cost and track condition? It is also far away for many of the core group.
Carolina Motorsports park
Memphis (nice central location but I know nothing about it)

When you speak of core group, are you referring to the NE folks? Because they were more than willing to drive all the way to Savannah, GA for the convention.

I have a few buddies in WERA and AMA that will be racing a bunch this year, It's motorcycles but pavement is pavement... if there are some key places to go check out let me know and I can hitch a ride to go walk the courses and take some pictures if need be.

okay, so is Gateway St. Louis a viable option or not?

It sounds like the east coast group wants to keep it east but I do agree it is going to be much nicer to be a lot more central if possible which is why I thought of Gateway especially since they have a drag strip as part of the facility.

I'm happy to help look up/find out rates for Gateway or Waterford hills if interested since we already know the Gingerman rates so just let me know what you want to do.

I do know the east vs. west vs. central location is also an issue for Nationals for SCCA and NASA which is why NASA does 2 years at MidO and then 2 years in Utah to try to please both east and west coast parties by that compromise.

Or are you trying to cater mainly to east coast folks in this event? Is that your primary demographic that attends?

In my opinion, yes, the demographic is east coast, FL to CT but I'm 100% fine if everyone does not agree. I could be full of it ;-)

Based on past convention attendance, what were the big ones? DC, PA? How large was Savanah or Chicago? I wasn't able to make those. How about Alabama's attendance? CT was put together in 3 weeks and probably had around 60 attendees. OH was well over 100 with the majority of the attendees coming from the east coast, CT, NY, & PA. Of course there were a dozen OH attendees too.

Perhaps some sort of poll on the main forum would help?

KY and TN, yes. Is MO and AR not too far away? Look at how badly NE flopped.

^ It would probably be really good to have the statistics from past events along with a poll. I know we don't go to NASA Nationals in Utah because of how far it is but do go to Ohio (just an example). I wonder how many would go if it is more central like St Louis or is it not worth it because you get more in Ohio and you just pretty much made the decision already to just keep it in ohio? If you want to keep it in the same area of the country, maybe look at Beaverun in PA as an option as well?

No, not NE as the core group. The entire east coast.
