The thing is, making custom plastic mounts requires special molds and is not cheap. Even for 20k build I wouldn't be surprised if zipties were used, it's a custom build done by a small time shop thus not surprised, there are far worse issues other then zip ties (like Rob said).

Nissan does the same exact thing, SR20DET's don't have barbed FPR's either. This is the single most important vacuum line on the engine (in keeping your engine form leaning out) and Nissan refused to barb it on the FPR and on the manifold.
All manufactures try to save money, nothing special here.

That's not the point, it doesn't matter if your dryer is a day old, if it spend a single day open the material inside the dryer will expand to it's capacity due to humidity in the air. Thus it's recommended to replace the dryer everytime you open your AC system (like you would when you replace the low pressure line not to hit the turbo).
