lol the OP is/was? having the same problem, I gave him some suggestion on how what to look for and how to set timing using the ems without moving the distributor and so on. Its just a matter of having everything set up right to match the setup.

Biggest problem with the base calibrations is that even for the sentra calibrations all of them still have the ignition phasing CAS calibrations setup for rwd. Same when it goes for the 24-1 disk calibration that they tell you to set up. There is a couple changes you have to make to get the calibration setup for a single coil, not coil on plug and changes to the phasing as well.

Disable coils 2-4, set ignition using the setup menu, calibrate the tps and so on and some of the functions such as idle air control require enabling, same goes with knock input for timing changes with knock.

Once you learn the system and functions the car should idle and run pretty smoothly, I had no problems with timing jumping once I got mine running and I ran both single coil and COP at one point, both had no issues setting timing.

in the aem there is a table for the ignition timing vs rpm difference that is factory setup to add or subtract timing depending on how far off the target idle rpm it is. That might be why your timing is bouncing. However when your in setup ignition timing mode it should ignore that table and keep ignition timing to match the timing table. That might be why your having bouncing timing when out of setup mode

Car is getting picked up next week, king motorsports( tuning and build shop) charged him 400. To say he's injectors are bad, but w.e. its coming back and hopefully you can help. Remember im rootin for you at the convention lol.

Well i never found the issue. it does however stay in timing mode. After the timing is set it continues to rise with rpm and run lean to where the coolant temo was 200+! I just left it alone....Spent hours configuring it...

Yeah sounds like yours just needs tuning now. lol. At least its holding. Like I said go to that table and make it 0 across the board. Also make sure your tps is calibrated to where throttle closed is 0 and full throttle is 100% Your idle and all those idle calibrations engage at less than 3% throttle position. So when your throttle is closed your car is going to run on all those idle cals. Just go through them all and see if you can get a stable timing and idle.

Weird thing is that I left my tables alone and had a nice solid idle for the most part, sometimes it would jump around but not very often and usually just when cold. Thats about all I can do for you without actually messing with it myself on a car.

lol, thats kinda crappy. 400 and didnt even get it running right? Thats pretty sad.

And thanks man, I will definitely be bringing all I have to the convention. Should be a blast and hope to see you there.
