91B13DET Scumbag
FS thread in question http://www.sr20-forum.com/cars/49056-fl-99-se-l-ve.html

After talking to this guy for quite some time on the phone and him assuring me that his car is in great condition (and how he would feel comfortable driving it to california) with NO RUST (you can even read his post in his thread) I fly to get the car with no way of return (plane only flies in once a day) there is quite a bit of body damage on the car that was not pictured (due to him taking picture in the shade of a tree) but I said oh well I can just fix it. I leave and don't even make it 200 miles and BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER side axle boots rip apart throwing grease everywhere. Then I get home park the car in the driveway, come back out to move it about 30 minutes later and it looks like a quart or two of gear oil all over my driveway. I contacted him and told him I would let him keep the deposit but I wanted my other money back and I would tow the car back to him. He basically tells me I'm SOL and to peace.

I'm just curious as to how all this happened..... I have never seen two cv boots rip at the same time and then gear oil spewing out all over the driveway.... Curious to hear the other side of the story. I know Chris has been on the forums for a long time so I figure you would benefit from telling your side of the story here in this thread, not in pm's, just to clear your name. There are two side to every story and we only get one as of now. If you would like to pm me with your side of the story that is fine, but I am sure that if everyone knows both sides of the story, something can be decided as to who, if anyone is in the wrong here. I can tell you legally, a used car is sold as is but as a long time forum member, I would really like to hear your side.

I can assure you I have been on these forums way longer than Chris, dating back to 2002 (sr20sentra91 on the original sr20 forum and florida sr20s). I have owned 5 nissans and never seen this kind of damage. The only thing I can figure is he told me he didn't have the front dog bone (which I have run cars fine without them before) in and was using the rest stock motor mounts. I have not jacked the car up yet but have seen something somewhat similar one time when the rear cross member bolts were loose or striped and the back was hanging. It appears that the power steering pump pulley has been hitting the engine bay and the only was this is possible is if the cross member is not bolted securely and the engine is hanging too low. This may have caused extra stress on a 7 hour drive home and wore out the axle seals and boots. Chris also stated that he had driven this car for quite some time when on the title it said ACTUAL mileage (when he registered it) 1384.. when we went to the tax collector he wrote in just under 139000. So it's kind of strange that you would tell someone a car is sound enough to drive to cali when you have only driven it maybe 500 miles?

I would also agree that a used car is as is. But how can you sell someone something making statements clearly stating what solid shape the car was in and then all this happen. I have pics of the oil on my driveway and axle grease all over the wheels and car if you do not believe me.

Why don't you post the complete story here 91B13DET and let the forum be the judge?

I will take and post some pictures of the actual body on the car tomorrow and we can all compare them to his selective photos he posted originally.

I plan on getting a quote on getting the car sprayed tomorrow and then I intend to put some new axles in it, fix the motor mounts and move on with my life.

It was V's car, even I knew the thing has rust.

This is one stinky shit pile. Very interested in the outcome. Justice, I hope, will prevail.

No kidding, part of the reason I sold it is because I didn't want to deal with the rust and body damage.
