Thread: Problems Again

Got Payment via paypal for a VE valve cover on 12/31/10

I shipped out the valve cover on 01/03/11 ( Tracking Number: 1Z361X350360788277 )

UPS says they deliver the valve cover on 01/05/11 at 2:16 PM and left it at the front door.

I have customer telling me they have not recieved the valve cover.

In my opinion something is fishy here.

Here are the sceinarios in my opinion.

1. Customer has valve cover and want money back.
2. Customer has not recieved valve cover and is telling the truth.
3. UPS deliver valve cover to front door - back door and they have ot seen it.
4. UPS deliver valve cover to wrong front door.
5. UPS deliver valve cover and someone stole it from front door.

#4 happens to me often but I get the other persons mail all the time too. when it happens I drop it off to them and they drop off mine to me. the worst part is that our address is totally different.

#2 happened to me i paid for something on ebay got the tracking number it showed as being delivered but i never got anything.

#5 happened to someone on one of the Cusco group buys I did a few years back.

For my day job, I ship alot of new replacement car parts. You would be amazed how many times #4 happens.

I believe it is now up to the customer to work with UPS to get their item or possibly you work with UPS to make a claim on their insurance (if you did insure the item).

You and the buyer are in a good position it seems, as UPS with their tracking and delivery confirmation really help dealing with these issues.

Either way, you certainly shouldn't send out another valve cover nor refund the money until UPS makes good on the insurance claim.

sounds like signature required will be involved in future shipments to that location

I have had one item delivered to me that was left at the wrong house 2 blocks over. It was an abandoned house. I found it 3 days later after doing some looking around.

In my 15 years of doing this I have had 1 item lost with USPS which was a leter that had a moneyorder in it but got that sorted out since no one cashed the moneyorder. It was going to G Spec and Greg was cool and understanding about it and when I got the money refunded Greg got his money.

I have had no problems with UPS.

It was a damn apartment that this box went to and makes you wonder if someone stole the box or is that and easy excuse.

If it was an aparment, usually they drop it off at front office around here. So has the buyer checked around at all?
