They'll give you the money back and leave his account in the negative, which he'll have to rectify. People don't realize that PP can charge off your account and negatively affect your credit rating.

I don't understand how someone could use his computer to access paypal? were his username and passwords saved in a document on the computer?

Likely if what has been stated is true, then the usernames and passwords were probably saved by the auto-complete/auto-fill feature in his browser.

You'd be surprised how many people have left that kinda info on computers that I've bought to refurb and sell over the years. I would end up nuking the drives and putting fresh OS installs personally, but if I were an unsavory character, I could have given alot of people some really hard times.

That isn't how they've they have worked in the past when I've been in similar situations. Maybe they've changed their policies but if the money wasn't there they will not refund anything.

He could have saved them, although that is unlikely that it would auto-login when he visited paypal.com - It's more likely that he accessed data in Firefox or IE to get the usernames/passwords. It's stupid easy to show all the passwords a user has saved in Firefox or Google Chrome. I bet the next computer he sells will be clean, if it even includes a hard drive.

Correct. Back when I was using paypal in 2006ish, I had someone claim they hadn't received what I sent (I sent it with no tracking/confirmation like a jackass, but it was my first ebay transaction). Luckily it was only ~$15, but it made my account negative and I had to deposit it via my bank account to be able to use paypal again.

^^^^ same thing here, i lost $500 dollars in parts due to a chargeback, buyer said he never purchase anything from me and my dumbass forgot where i left the tracking number. Once the dispute got close i found the tracking number, but paypal said screw you, youre too late So the piece of $@$ got my parts and kept his money

This is how its worked in the past for me as well. So if you have the ability to dispute these current charges with your credit card I'd be all over it. You can always make a new PayPal account with a new email. Keep in mind you have to get a new bank account number or credit card number as they keep these things on file so you cannot associate them with the new account.
