Sorry to butt in, but this really bothers me.
I ordered a 3’ exhaust from a very respected company, VRS. It took almost two weeks to get to my front door and I personally think that is a reasonable amount of time. These parts don’t just sit on a shelf with hundreds of copies next to them … (This isn’t Honda parts we speak of)
As for my exhaust kit, I took it to a professional muffler shop to have it installed and guess what… It still had to be modified!! Many things have to be accounted for, and not every car is ages the same. With things like old hangers, previous wrecks, rust/worn out parts in general, and many other things that can contribute to fitment issues.
VRS wasn’t even contacted because of their poor fitment… Why u ask??? Because I knew there was a possibility for fitment issues. Now if the exhaust system was completely wrong (wrong car, or size) then yes, I would expect them to eat the shipping and send me the right one at their cost. But they sent me a kit close enough that any half-ass muffler shop could fix.
Fuelcut did mention he was “anal” about the fitment. Makes me wonder, what if he didn’t like the placement of the muffler??? Would it be OEM’s fault too??
We spent over and hour just getting the muffler to sit right in the car!!! (the way that I wanted it to be) These things are to be expected.
I understand $750 is nothing to laugh about, but not all that was for the exhaust alone. Our cars have little aftermarket support, and the few vendors that we have take care of us. I am glad to see that OEM is not running away from this, and that they are doing their part as a business to set things straight. It would suck to see OEM stop making parts for our cars just because of this.
Good luck to both parties and I hope this issue gets resolved.
