Last I heard your car has to be a 1976 or older to be smog exempt. Smog laws here suck. But if your car is well tuned and maintained then you shouldn't have a problem getting it to pass.

If you worried about not passing smog, you probably want to get a pre-test, because if your car fails, it gets labeled a gross polluter and you'll have to deal with stricter and more frequent tests for the rest of the cars life.

Why? I have my car registered in my parents' name, so it still has Midwestern plates while I have a Cali license. The car is legal and current in its registered state and I'm not breaking the law by driving a car that was loaned to me. Now if it was in my name and registered elsewhere, that'd be an issue. My B13 would probably pass the sniffer test but it sure as hell won't pass the visual inspection!

I drove my b13 with WA plates for two years here in LA with no problems! Actually I wished that somehow someway I could have kept my SE-R with WA plates seeing since the local PD's/Sheriffs/CHP really never messed with me! Now that I finally have CA plates (just barely a month) various local PD's have followed me close (tailgating close) but with CHP I still havent had any issues!

To the OP aka Serious Fart, I recomend you do like Isfahan & keep the AZ plates on if its much easier for you! Btw, getting my SE-R to pass DMV's Vehicle Inspection cost me a pretty penny & thats not counting the cost of 2011 plates/tags & the smog chueco I had to do!

& Robert, the Smog Exempt vehicles have to be pre-1975! Damn pinche Governator!!! & if it wasnt for that shit he pulled, 1991 SE-R's would be 5yrs closer of beig smog exempt!
