Tell that to 5spd he has 20V pistons in his VE since 06. The N1's are going to ping on the 91 pump gas and the cali heat. The winter it won't be too bad but when summer comes around it will ping like crazy.

yes he does.

and ive never had pinging issues on N1s in california on pump gas. if its tuned correctly its good to go. i dont like how the ring land is tiny on 20v its not practical. but a high comp ve isnt practical anyways

If I going to run into problems with N1's or 20V's than I'm going to stick with stock pistons. I want to be able to run (91) on pump gas and since I'll be down there just want options. Would deshrouding the valve area in chambers help with the Higher CR pistons if I decide to go that route????

frank your best thing to do is to just fix the block keep the bottom end stock and then do your 2.4l later since you cant use any parts you buy for the bottom end. cheapest to do now and you dont have to tune.

Yep, 80,000 miles on the 20V pistons with a bunch of 9,000 rpm pulls, and dyno testing everything from cams, intake manifolds, and headers. Still running strong.
