Greg what lense did you use for these?

They look good, it's SO hard to shoot in light like that. For the drummer photos, the light is good and balanced with what you had to work with. personally, I would lose the umbrella though. that guy's dirty grungy, put him on a background that compliments him and shoot him barebulb. the umbrella is too soft and diffused. for nude ladies, the umbrella is perfect. for metal dudes, go for dirt.

these ones are head and shoulders above the rest, very very well done. the one thing i would have done would be to slow down your shutter speed and let some ambient light in.

I used my 18-55. I should have had the hood on, would have benefited a little. I thought about the shutter, but with the balance and the speed these guys were moving... maybe I'll try it next weekend.

Your point is well taken about the umbrella. Won't bring it again.

As another note to self: I gotta be sure I keep aware of my camera settings. I started shooting the drummer in .jpg, then remembered I ought to use .raw. but forgot i had preset it to iso800 for indoors. So there is more noise than I would prefer. The 2 pics above i like to. Normally you would hate all the arms in the frame, but since his is outstretched, I thought it came out good. I adjusted contrast on both, then dialed up the shadows some. That friggin smog machine looks cool, but is a pain in the ass to shoot. Wait until i post up the other band I used bounce flash with, totally different feel to it, more consistent in the look.
