1st pic looks all grainy. 2nd pic is awesome.

first pic IS grainy susan. and i don't really know how to use this thing yet. it's too much camera for me. gimme a couple months.

Are you using the kit lens?
I got the 40D and it's pure sex.

My 40d came with a 28-135 lense but I shot that stair picture with an 18-55 ef lense. It's a pretty rowdy camera, I've shot every day since tuesday and am still tryin' to get comfortable with it. it's a big step up from what i was using before. how do you like yours?

The 40d works well for me since I lack true photographic skillz.

Nah, I shoot everyday but unfortunately it's not during the best times of the day. I use the 17-55mm f/2.8 IS lens for now but I'm renting some lens from Calumet next month for the Long Beach GrandPrix.

Do you shoot in RAW or jpeg? Are your B&W shot in monochrome or post processing?

yeah it's weird mine came with a different lense than yours. i shoot raw, the horse's desaturation is post processed but the other ones are true monochrome. post up some pictures!

you need to resize those pics to post. there too big. you can see all the pixels. you should save one small and one natural. great picws though. when we go to new york to shot theyll be sick. haha
