State Ref ticket, what now?
So I got pulled over in the VE powered B14 inside Santa Fe Dam park in Irwindale yesterday. The cop pulled me over for modified exhaust then told me to pop the hood and saw the header and the intake. Hit me with 21750VC for the exhaust and 27156(b)VC for modified emissions system - state referee certificate required. Luckily he didn't get me for tinted rear turn signals, tinted front windows, and no front license plate (in front window). So what happens next? My car will pass out the tailpipe with no problems as it did this past September, but it definitely won't pass a state referee visual since it doesn't have EGR. Can I pay the fine and not fix it? Will it affect my driving record? Points? Affect my car registration?

Any info or advice is greatly appreciated!

Ahh, the State Ref, dont worry, I have been there before with serveral b13's. Yes you can just pay the fine to get rid of it or make an appointment with the ref. The State Ref is just a glorified smog check. But if you have to go, put your stock b14 exhaust manifold on and use the stock b14 intake manifold with all the emission stuff hooked up on the VE, if i recall right they should fit on the VE, and you should pass with flying colors. And most of these state ref guys don't really know their stuff, so don't be intimidated.

If it's not to high of a fine, I'll probably just pay it since I don't want to have to go through that hassle. And I don't think the lowport intake manifold fits on a VE head? You may be mistaken for a RR DE, the intake manifolds are interchangeable between the lowport and the RR's.

I like my bling. And I've had that set-up going on 6 years, I'm not about to mess it up now.

Yes and no. Depends on what my time is worth. I have everything I need in the garage and driveway to swap it back to stock. I just don't have the desire to do 3.5 complete engine swaps. As it is, I'm swapping a VE into the DD P10, then that motor is going into a project P10 that's been sitting in the driveway so I can sell it. So that would be 2 complete swaps on the B14(VE out, DE from the DD in, DE out, VE back in), 1 in the DD P10, then one DE install in the project P10. That's way too much work, not to mention I wouldn't have a car to drive for a bit.
