No he JB Welded the Koni insert into the strut housing. The reason he cut off the bottom of the insert is so you don't have to stack multiple washers. It makes it look better and is more secure.

It rides great! It is definitely lower than having the KYB-GR2. I love the upgraded suspension with the same amount of OEM travel.
The bottom spacer was used to allow for the bottom mount to be long enough for the bolt to hold it in place. I just decided to JB weld the inner part of the strut/insert then bolt it together to pull the insert into place. I then filled the empty space with JB weld to provide more support so there would be zero chance of the insert moving side to side. The one pic shows the cut insert not completely pulled into the housing. The following pic shows the insert pulled into place after the JB weld had cured. I did my install a little different than the other ways. I cut the housing just enough so the bumps on the insert help hold the top of the insert in the housing along with the JB weld.

Thanks! Rustoleum FTW. It holds up well to road debris and it helps with any surface rust. I used wheel paint from a local autoparts store on the perches to match the rear Konis.

I have been playing with the fronts and have them at about 1 1/4 turns from soft. The rear I left at 1 1/2 turns from soft.
I believe I got these from GregV and from what I remember he matched Tirerack's prices.
