Prothane Urethane Engine Mounts Inserts - Too Rigid?
I am planning to replace my stock engine mounts (all 4) with Prothane Urethane inserts. I am wondering if they will cause too much vibration, especially since I will be using a performance clutch.

See mount inserts to be put in here:

car: Nissan n15 Pulsar. See signature for mods. Clutch will be upgraded at the same time of mounts upgrade.

Thanks for your comments.

I have them and you do get a little shake in the steering wheel but its not that bad. I have a DE with a Exedy stage1 clutch and JWT flywheel and it takes off, no wheel hop at all. Depending on what you use the car for they are not that bad. I wouldnt put them in my daily or anything but its not that bad.

^Hmmmm, I planned on replacing my OEM inserts with these on my daily. The guy I would PM about this is swiss. He has had just about every motor mount combo you can have. I need to double back to him myself and ask questions when I get ready to upgrade the mounts on my daily.

I had them in what turned into my daily driver. They car did shake a lot, but it was completely gutted out. With full interior it wasnt as noticable.

Truthfully, I love stiff motor mounts. It adds one more feeling of me being connected to the car.

I've got them in my daily. They bring more engine vibration into the cabin and can cause things to resonate that didn't before. I don't have a problem with them, but it's all up to you.

Engine mount inserts are different from engine mounts. You're replacing your mounts, not adding inserts. Inserts work with an existing engine mount.

^Correct.

1.) Motor mounts - Are the actually metal holder of the motor mount inserts.

2.) Motor mount inserts - Are the OEM rubber part that is in the motor mount / red or black prothane replacements.

3.) Motor mount brackets - Are what holds the engine mounts in place on the motor and the chassis of the car.

Whatever they are called - Mounts or inserts - all i know I will just press out the middle stock rubber piece and put in the Red Pieces I am buying.

I guess I will just live with the extra vibration but they are really going on my daily driver that I take to the track sometimes.

Thanks all

Yeah I use a solid metal dogbone up front, ES in the rear, and stock sides. More detail in this thread:

http://www.sr20forum.com/general-sr20/232146-prothane-motor-mounts-vs-jwt-motor-mounts.html

The prothanes are great mounts, no doubt. I just don't want a car the rattles and vibrates, period. I also don't want engine movement and I don't want any wheelhop. My setup delivers solid feel, absolutely zero wheelhop, and very little if any NVH. I love it.

The key to it all is the turbotime solid metal dogbone. It looks like turbotime is still in business, they just don't have a web store. You can contact them:

I also made my own for the B12:

if you dont mind a little vibration then why not. plus you will never have to replace your motor mounts again so why not just do it one time and be done iwht it forever

I love my Prothanes. I don't notice any harsh vibrations, but I set me idle at 1000 rpm. Full interior.
