Thread: Suspension upgrades

Ok so I have a 90 240sx hatch. Car is used for auto cross, mountain runs, drag racing, and street fun. Has Fortune auto coilovers, new oem style front lower control arms and tie rod ends. I'm looking to go through the rear suspension next, so far it only has the solid diff bushings from when I swapped in my J30 diff. Pretty much every bushing in the back is shot. What could I get away with leaving stock with new bushings and what should be changed to aftermarket adjustable pieces? Right now the car handles like shit and gets a good bit of wheel hop. I'm assuming this is because of all of the bad bushings in the back. I'm also going to go with solid subframe bushings in the back when I go through everything.

Adjustable rear upper control and rear upper traction rods. Lower can be reused with OEM type arms and better bushings. Also get the rear subframe collars to lock the subframe to the body solidly.

What's up man i'm basically building my S13 hatch for autox/track & street fun as well. I definitely would recommend you read up on the Nissanroadracing forums, you can learn a lot I MEAN A LOT. Other than that I would recommend the basics

such as:
Solid or poly bushings if you want comfort
s14 rear subframe swap (if you do this you will HAVE to run solid bushings)
Adjustable arms (the main fall downfall will probably getting it dialed in right, but once set to your settings it should be all worth it)
In the future a square setup tire/wheel combo is the best
Coilovers you're in good hands I would recommend swift springs but after you do your engine swap or gut the car & what not, that way your coilovers can be valved & spring rated for your car's setup
As far as getting away with anything stock I don't think that's a safe idea for a 20+yr old car since you said all the bushings are shot. What you can do is just replace those bushings while keeping the oem arms intact.
