C clip for drivers side axle

So I was fixing a leaky Tranny drivers side seal and noticed that I do not have a c clip on the axle. Do I need one?

the lack of the clip may be the reason why its leaking.

I would make sure it is not lost in the transmission somewhere.

Found it on the ground, must have popped off when I pulled it out... who knows how this stuff happens sometimes. I had picked up a new on from nissan and slapped it on.
