There are B13s that came with manual racks (The Sentra E and/or XE I believe). That's how I'd do it. Put in the proper rack.

There is no slack, with the car on the ground or in the air any slight steering wheel movement will turn the tires. I read the Miata rack How To that said there was slack, but when i inspected mine there was no movement or slack.

There is a night and day difference with gutting the rack, i have had both and there is no comparison.
