Money is the easier part but the kicker for a Sentra is the amount of travel in the front. Threaded bodies favor that and with all the math I have been doing, a threaded body wins on a Sentra.

Ugh. I have both. The Konis are so superior that it almost lacks description. Sure, if you want a coilover at a fraction of the cost, the Ksport/Megan/BC/etc will do the job, but they are not a full out track damper. The whole thing about the threaded lower section being a superior is a marketing ploy. All it really does is allow them to use one damper for more applications.




Sure, you gain bump, but you lose droop.... And I'll take my filet bacon wrapped please. I'll make the reservation at Rocky's.

There's basically 3 tiers of the generic (yes, Megan etc. are generic) china/taiwan dampers.
1 - as delivered (Megan, BC, etc.)
2 - sexed up with hypercos (Stance / AMR etc.)
3 - full rebuilds with quality stuff (Fortune Auto)

Psh, a great steak does not need a sideshow of bacon to draw attention from the delicious bovine treat! Is Rocky's in OH? Anywhere neat Convention locations or just near you? I'll buy.

Re-EDIT: Since this is about the road course, I do admit that I believe that a CSK is more functional of a setup for racing. I sometimes do forget that transition from "street-driven, daily-driver" to "race car" since hardly any one does race car stuff anymore.

I don't fully agree with the threaded bodies being bad (nor did I say they are superior) but they are certainly a better option for those with either less resources, ability, or just plain lack of care to make a suspension setup for themselves, or they just want to lower the car for whatever reason of silliness.

The thing people often forget is that travel works in both directions. so you may gain bump, but you'll lose rebound, and sometimes, that's worse. I had the whole thing explained to me before, and I forget the details, but it's not a good thing.

I am going to have a set of Shigspeed koni coilovers for sale soon. I have them on my car now and will be taking them off shortly. I believe the rates are 330f/300r.

Having threaded sleeves goes a long way actually, you can maintain full travel at any suspension height. I'm a weirdo that likes to run coilovers at almost stock height, and with Tein basic's I ran into an issue of having to top out the shock because I raised it so much. Which also meant a ton of preload on spring. Preload is fixable with a longer spring, but travel is still lost.

If you could get good Koni's (8611, not the typical bottom shelf yellows) with threaded sleeves and perches all for $1500 then it would be the best solution, sadly you have to custom make that setup.
