Thread: Whiteline bushing durometer.

I spent some time on the phone with Whiteline today. (909 476-2860). I had originally called to see if their 4 point lower control arm brace could be installed with the offset caster bushings on my B13 but got into a discussion regarding the durometer of the various bushings.

It seems as a general rule most of the black stock replacement bushings are 70 duro but you can't go by color, as the duro changes depending on part application.

For example, they stated the black offset front caster bushings KCA303M are 93 duro while the yellow anti lift caster correction KCA346 are 85 duro. I haven't seen the duro of the different bushings listed anywhere so a phone call may be the only way to be sure.

As for installing the lower control arm brace KSB713 with the offset caster bushings KCA303M, the guy actually put me on hold while he made a call. They claim all Whiteline parts are tested to be compatible and to just install all bolts loosely till everything is in place, then gradually tighten everything down.

Considering how far the offset bushings move the lower control arm, I'll be interested to see how that works out, once I get my hands on a 4 point brace.

The caster bushings will in no way affect how the 4 point brace will bolt on.

In the front the brace doesn't bolt to the control arm, it bolts to the the subframe

In the rear it bolts in with one of the bolts that holds the plate that houses the caster bushing.

The pivot bolt that holds on the Whiteline brace is the same bolt holds the front of the control arm. When I reinstalled the control arm after installing the Whiteline offset bushings it took some effort to get that bolt in.

I've done some more research and it seems hammerin hank had some problems. Check out posts #9 and #13 on this thread. He even drew a diagram.

Is this one of those installs that goes smoothly for some people and causes issues for others?

yea, that does make sense.
But even without the offset bushings I still had trouble getting that front bolt in, but that was due to my exhaust hitting the brace.

The bolt alignment issues I had could have been a result of a slight bend of the control arm mount as a result of a curb shot the previous owner did to my car. I dunno for sure. I do know the control arm and the wheel had been damage, as a result. The brace I installed was also used. Who knows, maybe that was slightly tweaked, as well.

I ran their offset bushings and the brace on my B14, installation was easy and smooth.

I'll try to update later. I know these braces usually end up taking some hits from speed bumps etc., which is why I wanted a new one. My front end is straight and I didn't want to force anything to fit a brace that may be a little "tweaked".

I ordered a brace for 175.00 shipped but it couldn't be filled because the lower control arm braces are on back order. Whiteline says they are 60 to 90 days out before filling back orders. A few places may have them in stock for 195.00 or so but I don't want to pay that much, I'd rather wait and re-order.
