[bump]STOP Hammer Time!
As you guess it, this is a bumpstop related thread. I took a trip to the junk and snagged 2 dust boots off a 99 B14 in decent shape. Inside are the OEM bumpstops I'm told are good alternatives to Koni's. I'm assuming to match the 40mm Konis I would cut the top (blacker bottom part in the picture) bigger section off, correct? Also at the junk while checking different types of cars dust boots for Koni like bumpstops I came across a SAAB. It had the front strut assemblies looking like they had been hatched off and only the top of the boot was there, so I reach up inside and pulled out some bumpstops seeming to be made of the same material as B14 OEM and Koni. They are the bottom 2 in the picture. My question is would these acceptable to use on my shocks? Cutting it in half makes it basically 40mm but I dont know which would be the better half to use, i'm thinking maybe the "double riveted" section as opposed to the solid one piece half? I might need to use a dremel and bore out the center a bit also....

They are good alternatives to Konis when new! Not when they are 14 years old and hard as a rock. HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU TO BUY THESE THINGS NEW?!

The black section you're thinking about cutting from the OEM B14 bumpstops is the wrong section. You'd want to cut one of the narrower sections off. The piece you cut off should look like a small doughnut when you're done.

Those Saab units you could potentially cut off the small black section and use them in the rear. The rear doesn't need as short of bump stops as the front.

Either way, those things have to be uselessly hard by now.
