This has been discussed somewhere on the Forums, but I don't have any direct experience with B13 abs brakes. I think your answer is that 1) it doesn't matter whether the Maxima is abs or not - the rear calipers are the same, and 2) if your car is abs, you should use an abs MC from an Altima so that the brake lines will match up.

Can anyone else confirm or correct what I have said?

I went ahead and ordered everything to do front and rear conversion. I know there has probably been plenty of these brake upgrade buiold threads done but im going to post pics of everything I do so there is a current write up on it.

That is a great idea, thanks for taking the time to do a full write up with pictures. Don't forget to include part numbers and brands that you used.

Go with the non abs MC from the altima. Get it from the junk yard.

^^^ If you have ABS you need to use the Altima MC from an ABS car. If your B13 is non ABS. only then would you use a non ABS MC.

If I had seen this thread sooner I would have suggested you use the G20(P10) rear brakes. They are the same size as the Maxima and use the same brake pad but the parking brake cable bracket is positioned differently so you don't have the problems you will have with hooking up the parking brake cables to the Maxima rears.

Another factor is the proportioning valve. If I remember the numbers correctly, the proportioning valve on the ABS NX2000 puts out about 900 psi to the front brakes vs the SE-R proportioning valve which only puts out about 700 psi. The proportioning valve on ABS B13's is located on the firewall. it's a pain to swap but I never got the full advantage of the NX2000 brake upgrade until I installed the NX2000 proportioning valve. You can usually get one cheap from someone doing a part-out.

Finally, billc is absolutely correct about assessing your need for a rear brake upgrade. I love the rear brake upgrade on my SE-R but during high speed panic stops there is a huge problem with rear brake bias. It is so overwhelming that I plan on doing the 300ZX front brake conversion just to even out the front /rear bias.

You will be surprised at the amount of difference your brake upgrades will make if it's done right, especially with stainless brake lines at all 4 corners. I could never be satisfied with stock again.

Ser-1, so ur saying even if u did the Altima mc with the nx front and p10 rear, u still feel its too much for the street? Is that what u meant by overwhelming? Thanks. Great info. This thread pretty much IS the brake thread...lol
