Thread: Anti-Bump Steer Kit Caused More Bump Steer

You're not the only one, Hyperco's simply don't lower the car enough to have to worry about bumpsteer. The way I fixed my bump steer is by flipping the tie rods to be in normal position. The helm joint tie rods provide a more responsive steering feel thus they are a decent upgrade. I will say they don't make the steering feel $140 nicer though.

I suspected it was something along those lines, thanks for clarifying that.



Unfortunately, the kit I bought has no provision for the "normal" position (2jr). *Sigh* I'll have to bore out the taper and find a suitable bolt to secure it.

I'm having a horrible time with the Hypercoils and the 2JR bumpsteer kit. It's coming off and new outer tie rods are on the way.

Your bump steer isn't affected so much by suspensions don't lower the car too much. Hyperco and most quality spring strut combos don't require a bump steer kit at all. This is more for those of us that lower the car over 1.5-2 inches in front causing retarded amounts of bump steer. I for one own the custom steel and 2jr kit and my car is lowered 2.5 inches up front so I benefit greatly with these bump steer kits.

Since I put on my hyperco/agx combo my bumpsteer was way bad. I bought that 2jr kit hoping it would help a bit. I'm going to install mine next week what problems did you have? please explain

Try measuring from the center of the axle to the fender lip. That takes out tire size differences.

One thing I have noticed is people spacing the Rod end too far away from the spindle mount when mounting underneath. On the 2JR Racing kit, I used the smallest shim on between the rod end and the spindle and ran the bolt down from the top. The larger spacer is below the rod end then the castle nut with cotter pin. Some other options I have seen (like Vadim's above) has a massive tapered spacer used that puts the rod end very low. I am going to be about 2" lower than stock and have the bumpsteer kit on the smallest shim and with a jack lifting the lower control arm it looks very close to parallel with the LCA. We will see how she feels though when I get on the road.

I'll try that out, my fenders are rolled and lipped out for 350z rims /tires that the previous owner ran, thus it messes with the measurements a bit 1/4-1/2"

Hey man. Whew, I finally got this 2JR kit off my NX with hyperco/agx combo and my car is finally back to normal. Put some new OEM nissan ends on there and she feels great again. The car oversteered like a mother, bumpsteer was greater....it felt very, very scary when negotiating turns at a decent rate of speed (60mph). Car followed crevices in the road, etc. I had it aligned twice. You didn't really notice much of a difference driving around town. The steering was very sharp I guess is the best way to put it. I'd turn the steering wheel a little, and the wheels would turn a lot. Hope this helps. I didn't like it one bit with the hyperco/agx combo. If anyone wants to buy it PM me.
