Tein Basic Coilovers Strut Mount Replacement
I haven't found a definitive thread regarding strut mount replacement, let alone on coilovers (specifically Tein Basic's)

I rented a spring compressor from Autozone today but the diameter of the tein springs is making it very difficult to secure the compressor on the spring. I'm trying to replace the top hats; When I took the strut off to inspect it the top of the strut mount just came off, wasn't secured with the rest of the mount at all, so I ordered OEM mounts from Rockauto (confirming with the tein site that OEM mounts are what is called for) and I am having trouble getting the freakin spring compressed so I can loosen the center nut to take the mount off and install the new one

Anyone have a pics or any advice as to how they replaced their upper strut mounts on Tein Basic Coilovers? I imagine other coilovers would be the same since it seems to be the smaller diameter springs of the coilover causing this problem

Thanks in advanced!

I ended up putting the impact on the center nut, the spring is not under enough load to come off, after the nut is off you can take the mount off (mine was completely blown), as well as the perch and the bearing. A spring compressor would not have been necessary for this job, I don't know if you'd be able to do it without an impact though. Strut mounts are in, took it for a test drive, squeaking is gone!
