WRX Coilovers B13 - Hear me out
So I put ISC coils in my buddies WRX swapped 2.5rs recently and noticed they have a very similar set up to a b13. Four corner McPhearson, three bolt upper shock mounts, two bolts to the knuckles, etc. Then I compared some autozone specs between our OEM shocks and the WRX shock was like .25in shorter iirc.
Now, raceland makes coilovers for the WRX. I've read up on them alot and they have alot that goes into them. Front camber plates, pillow ball upper mounts, seperate spring and height adjustments are all found on the racelands for the wrx. I understand that adjustable dampning is nice. But on the street theres almost no difference. If anything I've found that the racelands actually ride a little smoother on the street.
So, has anyone ever thought about using the $460 racelands in place of $950 d2s or ksports? If I can save 500 bucks by redrilling the strut tower then why not? My car is not a track car, but i'd like a decent ride and something that'll keep up when I feel like hucking it side to side somewhere.
The only thing I havent been able to check is the bolt spacing for the knuckle. I do know that depending on the year of the impreza they use a different knuckle bracket on the coils. I'm going to try to get a measuring tape on my friends stock struts asap but I'm pretty sure this will work and am willing to try it. I was going to order coils in a few weeks anyways, so why not save myself some muns?
So am I crazy, or has anyone else done this/thought about it?
