Need advice on installing cusco rear strut bar
Hi guys,

Need some suggestions on installing a cusco RSTB. According to the seller, and a few other sources I managed to find in the web, all I need to do is drill into the trunk area and install this RSTB using nuts and bolts. However, the rear shock towers look and feel flimsy (personally for me) - compared to the active tuning RSTB that bolts directly to the screws of the shock mounts.

I was thinking of welding some steel plates into the mounting area, then drill into them so I get to bolt the bar to something thicker. Does that sound or should have a stronger effect? Or dont bother with it & just do what others have done before? I'm having difficulty finding any feedback about this bar compared to active tuning's, so any help/feedback will be appreciated.

This is what the bar looks like installed:

I have this exact Cusco rear bar installed in my 1994 B13. See how it is installed in the photo? thats exactly how you install it in the rear- drill 2 holes on each side of the sides of the shock tower. Its solid- BELIEVE ME- Once its all tightened down- youll see it wont budge. I would recommend use a small drill bit, measure twice, maybe three times-drill once. I cut 2 little slits in the side carpeting-looks very stock. The bar is awesome dosent interfere with anything and if you want (which is what Im going to do) is still use the Active tuning rear stut bar in combination with this. The Active tuning one use the top strut towers and mounts behind the rear seat- so its a win win! Any Extra Stiffness is always a plus! Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tip dude! Yep, I'm also planning the same, active tuning inside, this one in the trunk. Got a stupid question though. There's one thing I can't figure out: how did you put the nuts on the bolts? Did you just just reach behind the "gap" on the shock tower seen in the picture or you had to do something else? Like remove the rear struts and then install the bar?

And handling wise, any feedback on how the car handles with and without this RSTB?

Is that RSTB specifically for the Sentra?

The handling is VERY solid- tail stays planted. I can only believe that it will be even more bullet proof when I install my active tuning rear strut tower bar- should be even more solid. The Cusco Rear strut bar was specifically 1991-94 B13s.

So your goal was to have a car that understeers? That's an odd goal to have for a FWD car that understeers like a pig from the factory.

Yeah, that would be welcome Jordan. I haven't installed mine yet, and pics of this bar installed is difficult to find. Any pics of your setup would help.

Hank, correct me if I'm wrong, but would that only happen if you install this without an FSTB? would installing this + a front upper strut bar and front lower bar balance this out?
