I wouldn't do that.

Stay with what is spec-ed for the trans. The manufaturer built it to use that type of lubricant. think to remember ATF = low viscosity and Gear oil = High viscosity.

there's a reason the manufacturer specs one or the other.

FWIW, I recall someone telling me that a lot of the GTi-R community is using ATF in their gearboxes with great success.

Most domestic cars use ATF in manual trans, I know lost of gm does and never had an issue.

I recommend Redline MT-90 in these transmissions.

Maybe for Honda trans, they use motor oil/motor oil weights a lot.

yes, i heard that on hondas, they can use motor oil.. but.. i'm not sure with SR tranny too...

Though it's quite hard to find redline MT-90.... for now. but hopefully I could....

Someone told me that Castrol MTF is okay to use?

Yea it's safe for hondas because those cars make no torque....so they are able to get away with that

Summit Racing sells Red Line products. I buy mine from our local speed shop. They deal with circle track and drag cars.
Our trannys are supposed to use AGL-4 grade oil. Why mess with success? How much wheel HP can be gained by a lower viscosity oil in the transmission? Red Line MT-90 makes a notable difference in how smooth the tranny shifts. I had to have mine rebuilt under new car warranty with only 5,000 miles on it. I had the dealer put MT-90 in it after the rebuild and I could tell it shifted smoother as soon as I started driving it.
