So it might be the mechanic is wrong about it. He said that the wheel bearing is still good but the wheel hub is not?

Actually, the hub itself can be bent slightly, while the bearing is still good..
If the wheel experienced any hard impact it could have slightly bent the hub. Although it would most likely end up destroying the bearing as well..

Im pretty sure Im actually experiencing that now..constant squeal after a brake change..I had a hard impact on the driver wheel hitting an island early last year..and changed the bearing last summer (race literally fell out in my hand after taking the rotor off)..but didn't notice till now that the wheel isn't rotating completely true. CV joints are good, rotor is good, bearing is still good, no joint movement... but watching the brake caliper on the hub you see some uneven motion, making the rotor touch unevenly. Only thing I can sum it up to is the hub being slightly bent..just don't want to pull the hub and thus doing another bearing change again right now to see if my suspicion is right...

Yeah, I think the previous owner of this car got into an accident that explains it. Well, atleast we isolated the problem to the wheel hub. Drove it for 2days now and there's still no noise. . That crunching metal sound is life changing LOL

Saw this picture in one of the ads here. This is the culprit

Is that the plastic piece the holds the bearings in place that's suppose to be removed during installation

sorry to thread jack but...
I just got some used spindle/hubs in the mail.. there is a little play in both , very slight like 1/16" of an inch. Will this go away when installed & the axle nut is tightened down? Debating if I should get some new bearings pressed into them. The guy I got them from said they were fine when he took them off his car.
