Buy a can of brake clean. You could have a buildup of dust.

You are sure that both of the caliper pins are sliding freely in and out? Both pins need to move and be lubed or the caliper will not slide and will just push the inner pad outward toward the rotor not the outer pad as well. If this is the case the "grinding" that is heard would be the outer pad barely touching the rotor. The indicator of this is the outer face of the rotor will have rust on it.

@squirlz

never tried using that but i tried cleaning it by compressed air around the caliper.

@b14kenny

im pretty sure the pins sliding freely, yep did lube it one time but it came back after a time. even tried putting teflon around the pins.no rust on the outer rotor, its still smooth

Did you yank on the crank pulley? I had a grinding sound when braking until one day something fell out of my engine bay. Went to see what it was and it was the outer ring on the pulley.

Nope. My crank pulley is fine. I can feel the grind in my feet.

Do you have abs?

Yes. Is it possible to have that sound if the rotor is wobbly when in motion?

pull your abs fuse see if it still happens.

I saw it. Its in the fusebox in the dashboard. I'll test drive it later. Is it safe? The abs indicator light is on.
