i asked him how i should set them up to at least use what i had bought. he said just as above "start full soft and progress untill the bounce was gone"

he also said before you install them to raise the spring perch by hand untill any slip in the spring in gone. he told me i could pre load the springs to reduce the droop but it would kill any ride quality i had so i sacrificed suspension travle for minor comfort

Steve may have said that..he certainly knows his **** about suspension, true enough. Others have said similar things about the KSports as well, there's a lot of good info out there on Miata forums, Maxima forums...ad nauseum. Plenty to read if you have the time.
I am relating my own experiences based upon countless hours of fiddling with them. Its sort of a hobby of mine to drive myself insane.
The important thing I was trying to convey is to drive the car for awhile (I went a week) at full soft, then slowly adjust to your taste. Everyone and every car is different, thats is the most important thing about tuning a suspension.
Run errands, go to work, take your dog for a ride, haul ass on some back road, whatever...tuning the Ksports is not a right outta the box affair. The guy you bought the KSports from may have loved the rear on full hard (that sounds hot...), but that would terrify me. Va backroads are not so glass-like.

Actually, a bit of preload on the springs is sometimes beneficial to the ride quality-quite a few kinds coilovers are like that. The biggest thing KSports have against them concerning ride quality is that compression and rebound are adjusted simultaneously, which isn't so swell for taking granny to the store.
I know there are better set-ups and that they're not "popular" with those in the know...however, whenever I put my NX into a corner, it sure does make me happy as a bastard. Enjoy!
