GC camber plates + Tein SS co's ?
As a few of you can guess by now, I've been trying to decide on the suspension setup for my car...which involves a few threads for questions haha so sorry about that.

I did some searching and on the matter of whether or not GC camber plates will work with Tein ss coilovers. Saw some very scatter brained answers that didn't seem to be very definitive.

I sent an email out to Ground Control about a week and a half ago followed by another email asking if the account was even active. Got nothing back from them, so here I am.

Question: Will GC camber plates work with tein ss coilovers?

If not, I was originally going with Cusco camber plates.

Yes they will work and will give you more shock travel. The only thing needed is custom made spacers for where the shaft goes through the spherical bearing in the camber plate. Just a heads up though, those coilovers suck, and for the price of those you can get some parts that actually perform well.

Came with the car when I got it a couple years ago. Sending out to get them tested/revalved and what not. I can't think of any coilover or combo that someone hasn't said sucks btw.

Does the custom made spacer have to fill in space or ?

Yeah, if you can be patient till Sunday I will take some photos and post them explaining what you need. Any machine shop can make what you need for a couple bucks.

BTW nobody has ever said progress co sucks. And the coilovers I'm coming out with in about a month will be amazing.

Get some GC coils & sleeves and some koni shocks. You can pick your spring rate and unless you are going for track use you will have a very nice set of coil overs.

I believe you haha. I'm not set on the Tein's, I just have them. I'm going balls to the wall on a track setup and haven't really questioned any of the parts I currently have. You are right, I don't recall anything about progress. You're also not the first person to say the super streets suck.

I can be patient as I daydream about driving my car at Mid Ohio haha I'd really appreciate any advice/ and or pictures you have to post on the subject or on suspension setups in general.

Meh, We'll see. Research must be done! haha Thanks for the input though

Hello there, I use tien ss coil overs with tien pillowball camber upper mounts. My B13 handles smoothly, you feel every bump but that is coil overs for you, minimal to no body roll. I love my set up and will suggest to others. So if you want to spend a little, get a match set, tien pillowball mounts.

I have Tein SS coilovers for my SE-R with GC camber plates. I put this together a couple years ago before my engine went so I never got around to installing them yet.

You probably haven't gotten an answer because Ground Control doesn't like to make install recommendations on non GC products.

I'd bought used GC B13 Camber plates with some parts missing and sent them in to be refurbished. I worked with John at Ground Control back then and we ended up using B14 top hats (upper perch cones) which are 1 inch shorter than the B13's.

He just had his machine shop make up spacers (Tein calls them collars # SAP-13-J2448) for my front Teins. I can't remember how long they were, but for some reason 11mm sticks in my head.

Ground control ended up charging me about 110.00 for everything. I was happy, considering what I'd paid for the the used plates, and the fact that what I got back was completely refurbished and custom set up for my Teins.

Yes, one of the advantages of GC camber plates is that you gain 3/4 inch of much needed travel.

Years ago people begged Tein to make coilovers for our cars when no one else would. We were lucky they did. The only complaint was that the spring rates were to firm for daily drivers but this could be fixed by ordering softer rates.

As far as Teins "sucking", Bimmer World recommends them for BMWs. At least I know I won't be stuck with something that no one wants to rebuild or buy if I decide to sell.

My only complaint is that they lower the B13 to far for my needs. 2" to 3 1/8 inches front and 1 3/4" to 2 1/2 inches rear.
Worries about snow clearance is the only reason I'v procrastinated on my install.

I have had a few sets of teins and i have used apexi, progress, fortune, and every strut and spring combo. teins are low build quality for how expensive they are and the dampening and spring rates are not optimal. Progress cost the same and is really good for a street car but the spring rates are really soft for hard track driving, they can be revalved and matched to heavier springs. Im custom valving some progress dampers to use with swift springs for my track car and im confident they will be amazing. For street use the units im building around fortune 500 dampers will be perfect and will cost less than Teins too. I will take pictures of the the spacers and what is needed as soon as i get some time sunday. I will even explain them and give you the measurements.
