Thread: overhaul tein ss coilovers?

Well when the car is done, it will be heading off to a local performance alignment shop for all the adjustments and even corner weighting the car. That's why the one adjustment screw not working properly had me erked. Not sure how you can tell if they need overhauled because they all feel good.

Anyone had coilovers that felt funny after a while? I mean with such strong spring rates im not sure if there is a way to tell without sending them out.

You can prob send those coils to Fortune Auto, The said the could rebuild serviceable coils.

the lack of damping sure is noticeable. boing, boing. if only 1 is shot, that corner of the vehicle will bounce more than the others. you'll get a quick rocking motion effect

they do free inspections once they get it it in thru the mail, they will call you and tell you what needs to be replaced if anything. if you refuse services they just send it back to you but u pay shipping back. the wait if your not a local to downey california is a while, 2 months or so last i heard.
i know this bc i bought a set of tein ss for a p11 and had them inspected before i installed to just double check the seller, i didnt trust him.
another thing is i soaked the whole set of coilver overs in gas for a day, then in wd-40 for the next day, the siezed adjustment knob started to move freely and ALOT of gunk was at the bottom of tub i used. very happy i was saved by ghetto tricks

Do you mean they feel good while driving, or are you moving them by hand? If the knob isn't moving, I'd be willing to bet there's something messed up inside. I can tell when the 8611's in the NX are messed up when the rebound adjuster loses range of motion.

I killed my LF at Mid-O a few years ago. Car just wouldn't turn right after that. Driving it down the road you could actually feel the LF rebound faster than the right.

My advice, send them out for a dyno atleast. I always send mine in pairs at the least and get them matched.

There's lapping/school programs through NASA, SCCA, BMWCCA, and PCA.

Oh you did one of those. The courses that the actual track offers? It'd be nice to get a comp racing license while using my b13

I've never done the ones offered through the track. They're waaay more expensive than club weekends. I'm semi-retired from driving at this point, but I used to run mostly with NASA with a few SCCA days mixed in.
