I Just Extended My Rear Lower Control Arms
So I was getting sick and tired of noticing that the rear track on my B13 was more narrow than the front. It made my rear wheels look like they were 10-15mm higher in offset, so after talking to Russell I decided to extend my rear lower control arms. The first go round I got a little amphibious and extended my factory ones 1", when I was checking the fit up it was obvious that it was way too much.
So i then decided to just make my own using the factory ends and welding in between a piece of 3/4 by 1 1/2 inch mild steel reinforced uni-strut. I looked up the specs and this is some strong, stiff stuff, thanks to the shape of it. I ended up extending them 3/4", and the install went quite smoothly except for attaching the rear trailing arm, that took a little grunt work.
Let me know what you guys think. The rear camber is a bit more than what I was hoping but I have a plan to get that back to 1.5-2 degrees.

Here are a few of the welds from when I was extending the factory ones, for those that are wondering about my welding capabilities

Not an expert or anything but clean welds man. Are you planning on doing anything to the fronts?

Not at the moment, There is no reason to do anything to it, Im not planing on going that low so there is no reason to mess with them. The only thing that I have contemplated doing to them is widening the rear section of them to give me some added caster instead of buying the Whiteline Kit, but I think there are better and safer alternatives as of now.

Spacers would have been ok... but I guess that's the drifter way.

I have no expertise with which to judge.

However, from the knowledge displayed in your previous posts, I am going to *assume* you did that correctly. In which case it is an extreme, unique, and very cool fix for an issue with our cars of which I was completely unaware.

Excellent work. I always wanted to do this to my B13. I hated how the rear had the "sunken in" look to them. Any pics of the car as a whole. A before/after would be cool to see the difference that 3/4'' will make.

I have just finished the one side as of now, the other should be done tomorrow. I am also installing a full Energy suspension bushing kit so the car wont be on the road for a little bit. When it is ill snap some pics, but i do have a teaser for now.

David: Spacers are looked very down upon at track days, hence why i didnt go that route.

Shawn B: The credit for this fix goes Russell, as he was the mad scientist behind the theory of this fix.
