Thread: need new tires for the subaru

not trying to jack but since u have been doing the research any suggestion for just a front wheel drive? We get snow and it varies so much year to year. We can just get 2 inch bursts or foot deep mother loads. So im looking for a good all arounder thats ez on the wallet too

so far the conti DSW is THE BEST in regards to snow performance and all around performance. i 86'd the 225 size because it will be to wide and the DSW's are the only tire i like in a 205/50/16 size. there are alot of other tires with better steering response because the rumor is that the DSW has a softer side wall. but it still grips like a mother and has near snow tire performance.

oh, and no one buy BFG's!!!!!!!!!!!! i used to run nothing but, however in the past few years every set i have installed (im a mechanic, so iv installed about 30 sets of bfg's in the past few years at least) balance like dog shit on the road force.

You should look into a set of Vredestein Quatrac 3, a little pricey but definitely worth it. An all-around all season tire that is also a severe snow tire.

I have the 215/55/16 BFG gforce on my subie and I am very dissapointed in traction in the snow. I had abs kicking on like crazy even at 10 mph but maybe thats just the crappy abs system itself?

G-force sport? They are summer tires.

BFG Traction T/A were kick ass.

BFG G-force Sport are great with tread, terrible when just under half of starting tread.

I wish the tire thread would break it down into Summer/ All-Season / Winter / and Track or Drag tires. I only use all-season tires so I am really only interested in that information.

Michelin Pilot Exalta A/S and BFG Traction T/A are the two best tires I have used.
