Clunk in front suspension
Hey guys I'm trying to fix a suspension issue I"m having with my track NX. So the car has been hit before on the passenger side. The strut tower has more negative camber than the driver side.

I hear the clunk from going lock to lock finishing with the wheels turned to the right.

At the moment the car has new ball joints, and new urethane bushings in the control arms. I'm using a manual rack and the tie rod ends on th rack were busted so I went ahead and put the ES urethane boot over the cap. I also recently installed hypercoil/agxs front and back.

I also have an issue with vibration when I get on the brakes around 70-80.

Just wanted to get some thoughts on what the clunk might be. Which one do you guys think is more likely to be causing the clunk?
1.) Busted up tie rod end
2.) Bad cv joint
3.) Strut top hat bearing
4.) Clunk is a result of previous collision

THe car drives straight, just once in a while on tight turns I hear the clunk. There is some minimal shaking in the steering wheel when I drive 70-80 but it is very noticeable when I get on the brakes.

When hitting bumps during normal driving there is no clunk.

Well the vibration while braking at high speed turned out to be wobbly rotors.

The clunk I think is one of my springs. I jacked up the car and steered from left to right. Well my drivers side spring rotates slightly when you steer. Its just not being pressed down tight enough. I think when the spring catches and then releases it causes that clunk.

My tie rods checked out ok. They did not show any signs of play.

my car does the same thing...every time i have her up in the air i just spin the spring back into place (you dont even have to remove the tire). If you figure out a better fix please post it up here.

Friend of mine has the Progress coilover setup and it does the same...I suspect bad strut bearing in the tophat or could be some type of swaybar bind. Did you stick some washers between the mounts and the unibody for the front swaybar?

Well my front sway bar I just replaced the links with new Nissan hardware. I also tightened up the links and sway bar mounts while the car was on ramps so all the weight was on the suspension. I only hear the clunk during slow heavy steering input maneuvers.

Sounds like the strut bearing isn't working properly. You may also want to do the rubber hose trick on the end of the springs.

I had this same issue with my megan's sitting in KYB gr2's. All it was was the spring wasn't seated right. It was but as I turned the strut to line up with the LCA the spring came out of place and also it can be that the piece right under the strut mount needs to be turned 180 degrees. This was also the cause of my clunking. May need to turn it, Put back in,Turn and put back in. My pass side, I was lucky and nailed it on the first shot. Driver side. 2nd try. Lmk the out come

Had the same issue with my agx's and road magnets. Passenger side strut bearing wasn't working properly and causing the spring to twist instead. Pulled the nut on top off and retightened. Fine ever since.

Glad I found this thread. I've been having this problem lately too. I just wish I found it sooner since I actually had daylight to work with today and it wasn't raining. I'll report my findings.
