Thread: Abs problem

My abs is kicking in under normal braking conditions. It's a real violent and rough sound with the peddle feeling like its gonna come off. Abs light was on yesterday and it didn't do this. Today went to drive it the light didn't come on but what I discribed above happened. What's going on?

ABS light being on means that the system is disabled, so you would not get that sensation. How hard are you braking when this is happening?

I had the same issue and when I would turn corners it would feel like it was locking up. Finally got tired of it so I pulled the abs fuse and have never had it happen again.

ABS sensor is going bad. As stated when the light is on the system won't work. Usually in the beginning the light will come on and off at random times and then eventually stay on like mine did. Usually a rusted out sensor that needs to be replaced. Sometimes just a dirty sensor but not usually. Not cheap to replace either when going new. Best bet is the junk yard!

Where is this fuse located so I can pull it until I can get a new sensor.

should be the fuse box under the hood the one on the passenger side near the power steering.

Also will a sensor from a p10 work, or do I have to frind one from a old NX?

not sure never bothered to fix mine I like it with out the abs will just keep it that way.

yeah abs on our cars sucks big time, i almost rear-ended a friend in his se-r because my abs was freaking out for no reason.. i pulled the fuse an the problem went away.. but i did eventually delete the abs completely since there was no need for the extra weight.
