That said, I had been driving on 90% bald RS2s prior lol.

From the Grassroots article linked below, this quote is why I have trouble with "seat of the pants" evaluations. From any or all of us here on this forum.

Unfortunately, a "constant push for higher limits" on the street, in the rain, in the mountains, is foolhardy. I know you would not do so, neither would I.
Therefore, I am more impressed with, and pay more attention to documented back-to-back testing by a reputable source. A source like C&D or Grassroots.

Excellent documentation and reasonably scientific testing.

Randy (NY5Speed) got the XS tires because they are what I could get right before the convention, at the time the 205/50/15 Direzza was out of stock. That being said for a second choice I don't think they are much behind as far as what he was looking for.

Those RE11's were another high quality choice per Tire Racks testing when I bought the Dunlops.
I have no way in the world to actually test, or push to the absolute adhesion limits, any tire choices. I'm not a Mike Kojima kind of guy, with access to a test facility, test equipment, and a massive amount of personal expertise.
I appreciate and contribute to the forum discussions on "recommended tires" but to reiterate, I put more weight on documented testing by reputable sources.
