No.They come with 320 frt,280 rr.My rates were an evolutionary thing. As my driving got better,I stepped up the rates every other year to fit my autocross style. As for the ride on the street,I don't really find it bothersome.Sure,it's stiffer than a regular street car,but it does pull double duty as a DSP car.I'm almost 50 years old,and my bones hurt at the slightest jolt, and these rates don't bother me.It is what it is,and it works for me.

You guys are going to flame me, but I pulled the Teins basics off of the SE-L and went back to stock springs and GR2's. I clipped a coil off each front spring (sacrilegious, I know) to take away the ridiculous ride height in the front (1/2"drop) and it's fine. It's slightly stiffer than it was, but I have yet to bottom out on the bump stops. I'm considering going with Koni inserts in the front and maybe some larger sways to take the lean out. I do have a whiteline lca brace and offset bushings, as well. As it stands right now, it's a pleasure to drive and doesn't beat me up on long trips. In a bumpy road situation (99% of the time in these parts), the SE-L will glide right over things, while some of the coilover cars I see would come out with broken windshields and pissed off gf's and be slower than my setup. Spend a whole bunch of money to be slower in most situation on the street? Not this guy. Dedicated track cars are a whole different story. 2cents.

Edit: I'm not even getting into the abuse stiff springs do to a chassis when driven on the street. I've see metal seams split and all sorts of stuff busted and bent, as a result. Just saying, not really worth it, imo.

Hank

If I drive up to the convention you will have to ride in my car. Proper valving will make a 2.3-2.5 hz sprung car ride super smooth. Both of my cars are setup for that frequency range and valved PROPERLY, the problem is it isn't cheap to get there.

Hank is right. I think coilovers are a waste for a street car. Trust me, been there, done that.
And yes, properly valved coilovers on stiff springs are the way to go... if you have the means to spend more than $900.

I don't doubt with enough money one can have their cake and eat it to...there's just something very wrong in my mind spending more on a suspension than the price of the car. To me, I might as well find another car that is good to go out of the box and save my self the grief. I guess I am getting old....

Whatever you tell them you want.

TBH, I guess I'm not the norm when it comes to thinking about a DD that can take mild abuse. I bought the BC's after Nate's (wnwright) recommendation. I have not been disappointed in the SLIGHTEST. The BC BR is not a track only "coilover" They even tell you this when you purchase them. Mainly street/mild-track coilovers. If you want to spend more than $900, you'd be looking into the BC external res. coilovers. The BR's feel superb (and less jarring than a few other setups I've ridden in) and also feel better than AGX/RM combo did on my B14.

I'll never go back to a standard strut on spring combination again.

If you ever go with a strut and spring combination, I highly recommend avoiding the Road Magnets, unless you are racing on a road course or something. The linear spring rates from Road Magnets make DD a jaw-breaking experience.

Counterpoint: If I had one gripe with RMs, it would be that they are too soft for performance daily use.

Fuck Road Magnets on a DD, Ben.

Hypercoil or bust.

Since its difficult to find those, something with a linear spring rate.
