What exactly do you think a coilover is?

And unless you need coilovers for some reason, Stef is right on. The best bet in the price range you want would be jumping in on the Hyperco group buy and getting some CSK's made.
Thanks for typing this out so I didn't have to.

i hate the gap that both hyperco and RM gives. I've complained about it since like 2005. that's why i go coilovers.

I cut a little more than a half a coil on my front RMs and my stance is mean. Didn't change the ride at all.

For a real track ready set up, yes. The biggest problem with most of the OTS options is a distinct lack of rebound damping. None of the one's I've seen has enough.

Pretty sure you know the difference between a coilover and a spring and shock combo.

NissanUnlimited, I would take each comment with a grain of salt. Many people bag on setups they've never driven on and only repeat what they've read or heard via word of mouth. All in all, good tires and solid bushings will probably yield better results for your money then a full track setup coilover suspension. Don't forget about the little things like bushings and bearings as those are the things in between your tires and the car! Unless you're looking to compete with the best of the best, which you more then likely aren't as you would know the answers to these questions, you should be perfectly fine with most of the setups out there in your price range.

Could he not do Koni inserts in his stock housings with 8611's or B15 inserts in front with GC for his price range:

Koni Inserts: $600-800

GC coil overs: $400

Using 98Sr20ve how to thread etc: FREE

Total $1000-1200 (he said he could bump to 1250

Obviously things like bumpstops and strut bearings would/may have to be replaced and would add to the expense.

However, He may be able to find the GC's used!?
