Axle Nut problems
I am in the middle of replacing my clutch and the left side Axle came out no problem. The right side is a different story.... i torched it, i used an impact, i used a breaker bar with a 6ft pole on it. it wont budge. oh and i soaked it in pb blaster over night many times... my question is could i just drill out the axle, like right in the center of it till the nut can come loose? i already have a new axle to put in. any feedback would be appreciated.

also don't get mad at my lack of knowledge on this subject, im only 16

Ohh, the car is a 1993 Nx2000. pretty sure it doesnt matter though because this is a fairly general question

Wow, I take mine off with a 3ft breaker bar. If its really seized on that tight, and you have a new axle, then drill away. I wouldn't drill the axle though. It would be far easier, better, and make more sense to drill the axle nut itself. Just drill through the nut on two opposing sides, and use a cold chisel and sledge to crack it in half. Use plenty of PB on the drill bit to keep from over heating it. If the car isn't taken apart far enough, just take it to a local shop and they should be able to spin it off with an impact gun. I can't believe the 6 ft pole didn't do it though. I had to do that on an altima driver side once, but I jumped up and down on it. (Note: I had a 3/4in breaker bar, not the 1/2 most ppl have.) Possibly you could use a small enough socket to sit on the edge of the nut, and whack it a few times real hard to help break it loose. I've had to bang on the head of some bolts before to help loosen their grip. It kinda shocks them like an impact, but be careful not to maul the nut, or axle threads.

I agree drill the nut. the axle is hardened steel and would be very difficult to drill. I use Cobalt bits when I have to drill hardened metal. they seem to last much longer than regular bits.

Die grinder and a chisle, or cutting torch... Hopefully you dont have a core charge on the axle.

Just go nuts with 9 foot pole. What could go wrong?

If you haven't snapped off the breaker bar, you're not applying enough torque.

the 1/2 in breaker bar snapped and the pole bent in half :/ but i think im going to just drill and chisel the nut like tswii recommended.

Hey, if you can reassemble whatever you've taken apart. See if you can find a local place that works on big trucks I believe the lugs on those trucks have 225-250 ft lbs of torque on them. I remember a fat guy (around 350 lbs) jumping up and down on a breaker bar and 4 ft pole couldn't break them, lol. The truck shops have those super heavy duty 1" impact guns. They can break it for sure.

Be sure if you take it someplace to get it loose, that you have them torque it back to specs (190 ft-lbs?) before you drive it home or your bearings will be ruined before you get there.

Alright i got it off!!! just used lots of drilling it out and a chisel , thank you all for the help
