I'm on board Shawn. I'd love a set. And to hear YOU someone of expertise when it comes to these cars, acclaiming veilside180x so highly, I feel like I already like his work. =]

haha this should be good.
I saw a post where you were worried about the hypercoils being more than 330.00 in the group buy.

I recommend you are sitting down when you get a price for this custom race koni setup.

FYI just a standard setup with reds/yellows is 6-700 for just the koni inserts.
then you need housings, springs, tophats, bumpstops, boots, etc and labor on top of that.

I must say I am curious what a setup like that costs, but I was scraping to get my csk setup with hyperco, koni reds at all 4 corners,so I know I wont be able to afford this.

I share Veilside's comments about just ditching the yellows/red and going straight to a set of 8610s. The inserts are not much more expensive than a set of yellows (I think $800), but are vastly improved when it comes to damping characteristics (as Veilside has mentioned). The shaft size is 2-3 times (if my memory serves me correctly) the size of even the KYB AGXS, if this is to give you any idea on what you are working with.

You are looking at over $1000 for this setup inclusive of dampers (as far as how much over $1000, I am not at liberty to disclose such information as I prefer Veilside himself to comment as prices may have changed since we spoke last)

Just a FYI, Veilside has been making sets for the 240sx chassis for quiet some time now using the 8610 as baselines. I think McCoy from here with his white S13 might have sampled/bought a set.

ok I am confused...how is it gonna be 1000 if the 8610s are 800??
The spring will be 300 or more if you go with GC coliovers setup.
I guess you mean NOT including the dampers??.... I thought "inclusive of dampers" means dampers included

What about the obvious weight, and handling characteristics of the 240sx chassis vs. the B-series.Surely the settings for damping and whatnot are different, right??

I am no expert or even close, just trying to get some clear understanding of this idea.

Eggman, I think you have missed pretty much all my points. I said the setup itself will be over $1000 and as far as how much over, that is not in my business to disclose such information as I am NOT the one who assembles these. I will highlight it for you below:

And no, the setup DOES NOT include coilovers or camber plates ( I did not mention any in my post as that is up to the person who they are being built for as there are a many options when it comes to coilovers as to how to progress from here).

As far as damping characteristic between the two chassis, that is not what I am commenting on at all. Let me break it down for you
1) I am comparing the damping characteristics of the 8610 to the OTS yellow/red (AND physical comparison in shaft sizes between the AGXs and 8610s).
2) I am comparing the custom bodies between the chassis (not the dampers themselves) because the process is very similar between the 2 chassis to come up with the proper custom housings.

I hope this all makes sense to you now

yeah,I guess reading owned me this morning
Thanks,thats what I thought.
So to be clear, you will be at least 2000 or more for a complete coilover setup by the time you are all done.

Hell,I just upgraded to CSK/hypercos a few weeks ago on my daily,so I am not gonna pony up for these anytime soon.
I am just interested in the info here for future reference.

This could possibly be my next step upgrade from progress coilovers on my track car someday.

I built a set of 8610 housings for Greg Amy not too long ago. Crappy pic.

What are the exact differences between the 8610 and the 8610-RACE ? I have been trying to get damping specs for all of the b13/14/15 dampers but I haven't gotten a person on the phone at Koni and no one has returned my calls.

I'd like to offer my humble B13 as a test car. If you need to borrow it let me know.

2gs that's about where I'd put it and I still don't know if you'll have entirely peaked his interest at that point. The 240 guys have much more scrilla than us...

I should have had you build me a set when you offered. But then Fosters sold me his Koni/GC setup for $800 shipped That set was on the classifieds for about 15 minutes.
