got to check out some star specs in person today, seemed like a really nice tire, and priced about right. although they dont carry a 225 50 15, only a 205 5015. i was hoping to slap a wider tire on then last time.

bfg drag radials come in a 225 50 15, this size will basically have a 1inch more contact patch then then a 205 tire.

im curious how on the tread war on the start specs, they are soft, not as soft as teh bfg drs.

do they come in 225 50 15 ? if you know, are they harder or softer then the star specs ?

I've always liked the Yokohama s drive's availble in a 205-50-15 but they are not as grippy as other tires . I've also heard good things about the dunlop direzza's witch also come in that size . Just my 2 cents

thanks bro,
I've driven them but only like 30 miles, haven't really tested them out yet cause of bad weather and I've been fixing some things on the car. The funny thing is now hear alot of rocks hitting my wheel wheels while driving which tells me there pretty sticky. Hopefully this weekend I'll have more to say about them. I wanted to go 225 but didn't want to risk it with the smaller b14 wheels.

Well Strat, if you want the tire of your choice to last at all think treadwear rating at least above 200. Soft enough for decent grip but will last a little while. I'm assuming you'll be tracking in a straight line with the occasional corner thrown in. I can only speak from my own experience with 16" rims but I've had the RE-11s, Azenis R615Ks, & the BFG G- Force on the track car. I ended up with the Kumho Ecsta XS & for the price I couldn't beat it. Plenty sticky, especially when heated up. Lots of the track guys run this tire in a 205-50-15 and love it. The only tires they have been replacing them with are the Nitto NT-01s & occasionally the Star Specs. Took a ride in my bud's VE'd fully bolted G20 on the track with the Nittos & even he was impressed. He's a NASA instructor who is one of the best front wheel drivers I know & he tried to break grip on the NT-01s. No dice, never happened. Only thing with the Nittos & the Kumhos is the treadwear is at 180. Hope this helps, sorry for the long post.

I get a pretty deep discount too although I don't think you can combine them. PM me Strat.

yeah i have it pretty much narrowed down to the three tires i want.

what i need to know is will a 225-50-15 tire on a 15x7 rim clear convention spring and strut suspension.

if not im stuck with a 215 but since nothing good is carried in that size ill be forced to stay 205.

It can be done with the right offset, and you'll need fender rolling in the rear. The right offset is +30mm give or take 2mm. If you are on stock height springs you can get away with not rolling the rear fenders.
