b13 11" Fastbrakes (Wilwood) Kit Help/Opinions...
Edit: 04/08/2011 - Figured out My issue! Bearing Was Sliding out!

Guys... I have been riding around with the kit for a while... i'm rocking all stainless lines as well and the setup is just okay... But honestly I liked the nx front, maxima rear, and u13 MC combo a LOT better... I have noticed that it doesn't seem like they are balanced front and rear... You can tell that the rear isn't being used much because they arent been worn and I can see surface rust in some areas on the rotor. The car just doesn't stop like my old sentra (nx stock mc and ss lines) or nx used to (nx/max/u13mc,sslines). At times I feel like I'm going to die almost feels like brake fade... It's not supposed to be this way. Shoot, even my b14 stops better than this.

I am going to take a stab at bleeding the system and see if there are any improvements.

Is anyone experiencing this too? Is there anything that you guys are doing to help with this? Do I need to upgrade my master cylinder?

I'm about to sell the kit and go back to the nx/max setup if I can find a set... but the wilwood's look baller lol. Another option is just finding a rear max or jdm nx rear and going upgrading to a better mc.

FIXED: Fixed a Wheel bearing, and Decided to go with a better balance master cylinder, and g20 rear brakes and rotors... Setup is perfect now.

Change the proportion before throwing the setup out.

^^^ Agreed.

What MC are you using? I am currently using an Altima (piston measurement escapes me at the moment) and the pedal is very firm, but easily modulated. I do not need much pedal travel to get a really solid bite. I am also able to lock them up pretty easily (but, this has more to do with my summer performance tires. Read: not that much tire grip). The MC has ALOT to do with pedal feel as well as pedal pressure.

Wear on front and rear are pretty even.

Also, what compound pads front and rear are you using??

See... i think that I need to step up to the Altima MC (i've got the part no). I will try that fellas.

Nathan, do you suggest doing that with the mc or are you saying actually cop myself a proportioning valve?

I honestly have no clue on the pads as this is what was on the car when I got it. I can definitely confirm that the pads have lots of material, and that they are barely touching the rears when I press the pedal (but the ebrake is fine). The rear brakes are definitely stock.

I would try to go to external adjustable prop valve. IMO all the internal ones are wrong and too heavily front biased for "safety". You could start with the Altima MC and see where that takes you.

FWIW my miata has NO proportional valve and even rotor diameter all around. I removed the stock external one and I still lock up the front before the rear.

Agreed.

Also, if you want to adjust bias, one somewhat "crude" way of doing this, is to vary pad compound from front to back in order to change bite characteristics and aggression.

I'll have to look into some pads as well... I'll have to do some research. It's a daily car but I'm a spirited driver on the back roads and i'd like to get into auto-x this season. I sold my brake setup like a jack ass thinking i wouldn't get one of these again.

Anyone have a u13 mc and rear max setup?

I forgot, I'm not supposed to trust people that Keo knows... Now I can't trust myself either though.

btw Boost, the PN for the right u13 mc (95-98)is 2b101 (at least on the one I had)... But I know Keo, so be careful.

Someone buy my damn beefourteen so I can ball out on my b13. I'm gonna lock my shit in reverse and pull a robocop maneuver in celebration.
