I have been thinking about the same thing for my P11 ... I have a set of AMR Coilovers and they suck ... I removed the 10k/8K springs for a set of 285lb front and rear, and now want to do a koni insert in the AMR Bodys ... still trying to find Koni dimensions to figure out if the lengths etc. will work ..

Nothing is wrong with "real" coilovers... Problem is with trash coilovers with crap valving. Not limited to coilovers. Most people prefer the spring strut combos because they have digressive curve and are much less aggressive which is better on the street but has most of the performance. Alot of these crap coilovers have linear curves and over-dampen the crap out of high speed rebound to a point that they absolutely suck on road and on rough tracks.

Depends. Alot of tein are underdampened which helps them last longer, but don't give as good rate control.

+1 to what Keo said

Tein's QC is no where near Koni's. I can't count how many blown Tein's I've dealt with.

The only blown Koni's I've dealt with either had a great deal of hard miles, 50k+ of street driving, or were improperly installed.

Race dampers are a different story, they are meant to be refreshed periodically.
