i didn't have problems with my coilovers when i installed them. after swapping my brothers and my suspension so many times over the years, i've learned a couple things. it's very important to have camber bolts if you do it yourself. then mark the alignment on the camber bolts (if they were previously aligned). visually inspecting toe and camber and adjust accordingly will help keeping the car driveable until a real alignment.
after you have camber bolts installed and slightly tightened try giving the camber bolt some rotation and you should see your strut move in and out (+/- camber)
nj has horrible roads so having your car not aligned along with pot holes = PITA
good luck!
