You know you are hard on your equipment when this happens......
On our 1995 Infiniti G20 track rat

Well, I had promised Andy we would be tracking the crap out of the car and putting tons of track miles (and we did and continue to do so) but after 60+ track days, 24k miles later, the rather unique setup in front of the p10 with that 3rd link took its toll on the AMR suspension. Andy said he's never seen anyone do this to his suspension in his entire career (go figure we manage to do this huh?) Anyway, I'm more thankful than ever that Andy stood behind his lifetime parts replacement warranty because we just installed the brand new replacements so we are ready to go another track day.

The bent ones are going back to Andy (as per warranty requirement) so he can test/study them accordingly.

Anyway, here are some fun photos of what happened in our case!

(Keep in mind we had used our own offset delrin upper control arm bushings --- offset to give us some negative camber in front)

I've heard nothing but great things about Andy, AMR and his products. Glad to hear he's taking care of you. Any idea how this happened? What's the story behind this? How hairy was it to drive after the damage? =]

the 'gut feeling' is the forces on the track gave no give and something had to give, thanks to the 3rd link being so strong, the weakest point was the suspension

It actually didn't cause any issues believe it or not because the suspension travel was not where the bend was (we got lucky that way)

I think we actually did a few track events before discovering the problem and it most likely happened over time (hard track miles) but we may never know

I guess the true test will be to see what happens now with this 2nd set *especially if we decide to cage the g20 and w2w it in PTE next year after having the b13 finished!

Just thinking out loud here and I'm not nearly as familiar with the front G20 suspension as I am with the B13/B14 but does the damper really even deal with much side load at all? Aren't the major loads front-to-back? So it's like this happened during braking? (Since you didn't run into a curb or anything.) Possibly gradually getting worse and worse for a while during each hard braking point?
Maybe you could tell when you first noticed the problem where the forces were coming into play?

Is this the right diagram? If so, I'm not sure I even want to think about it right now...

Nevermind that's from a Skyline GTR. Although it looks similar if not identical in geometry?

I guess I should have taken photos of when it was still on the car cause it was bent in side-to-side (not front to back from braking) like you might think unless you are somehow saying that the side-to-side bending is from braking and I just don't get it?

Did the track have F1 style curbs and were you smackin' them pretty good?

It would appear that the shock bottomed out, while under load. (ie a curb)
